The long cherished dream of establishing a higher educational institute at Brahamanjharilo , a place of serenity being on the bank of the holy river Prachi, in order to carter the educational need of the poorest of the poor of Barang block in the district of Cuttack and its adjacent rural areas transformed in to reality in the year 1977 due to the sincere efforts of certain enthusiastic intellegentia comprising teachers of primary, ME & High School well supported by local public.

A general meeting was attended by most of the leading personalities of the area where a governing body was formed. The adjoining point of three mouzas viz. Brahmanjharilo, Raipur & Kurunti, with lusture of green pastures & corn field all round, situated by the side of Niali Madhab road & 7km away from Fulnakhara, where the college stands today was selected for the purpose. The secretary of the college was authorized to acquire the land by way of gift deed or lease to collect funds from the government. In the meeting a committee was formed to collect funds from public in form of donation & take appropriate steps for opening of the college. It was decided to start functioning the college in the morning shift at Brahmanjharilo High School till the completion of the college building on its own land.

By the grace of God, the college was accorded govt. concurrence on 04.06.81 in I.A with 128 seats & got affiliation from Utkal University in 22.12.82. The construction of the Asbestos building of the college was completed in March 1983. The college which was functioning in Brahmanjharilo High School permanently shifted to its own building. It was indeed a day of jubilation when the first batch of Regular students appeared the I.A. Examination in 1981-82 in their own college centre.

With the change of the education pattern i.e. 10+2+3, the college was affiliated to the council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha from the session 1983-84 to impart instruction for +2 courses in Arts. As far as infrastructural development was concerned, the period from 1988 to 1990 was indeed remarkable. In the year 1988 another asbestos building in the western side of the college was constructed to provide accommodation to the increased strength of the students. The said building was later on renovated & converted with pucca building in 2003-2004. The statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation, was installed in the college campus in 1988 to provide inspiration to the students & to reflect the light of truth, non-violence, love & dedication in the heart of everyone. A permanent pucca building was constructed in eastern side of the college in 1990. The same year is also very significant in the history of the college because for the first student’s union & cultural association elections were held to give democratic right to the student community.
